Thrift is a Blessing
Swam 1km with no collisions this morning. Although there were some very slow people doing breast stroke that I kept catching up to and seeing feet in front of me - but NOT as dramatic as head banging!
Bus home and did a few household chores which tend to get ignored when I'm skipping off out for the day. Then I went and took Molly out for a walk ball chase. She's so funny - she DRAGS me along to the Meadows - nothing will persuade her to just walk without pulling - she's on a mission. But when we come back she walks nicely.
Today I spied a chap and his dog getting nearer. He had a throwy thingie too, so we waved them at each other. But when he got a bit nearer, Molly suddenly took off after HIS ball! He could throw it so much further.
I admired his swing, and he tried to give me a few pointers. He, Daniel, had a lovely young black lab called Polska. I think. He said it was the Polish name for 'little pig' because she was always hungry. But I've just looked it up and it says 'swinki'.
For the next 10 minutes or so, he did all the throwing and the two dogs ran after the ball - the lab always got there first- and we had a big chat about dogs. I really wish I'd asked him if I could blip him and his dog, but as I just had my compact camera, it doesn't look as good as the DSLR. I often sometimes tell a wee white lie - that it's just new and I'm trying it out. Maybe another time, as he lives nearby.
After returning Molly I walked down to the Filmhouse for the 1pm film. Terrence Malik - I should have known! Lots of swinging camera work, soaring classical music, odd angles, knowing looks, golden evenings with long grasses wafting in the wind. The main idea seems to be NOT get their heads in. I think it's ARTY.
Anyway, it didn't matter too much, because they didn't speak a lot. Ben Affleck just had to look gorgeous and manly in nice sweaters, and he didn't say more than two sentences in the whole film! The two female leads were gorgeous too, but it all got a bit tedious after the first hour. It was two hours long. And at one and three quarter hours, I dozed off. So I have no idea what happened at the end. Quite annoying, after sitting through most of it. Though I don't really care.
It was a dull grey day, but I had a wander to get a blip. I didn't think you'd want another Molly blip.
YOU DID??
So this is the doorway to a bank and I've always liked it.
'Thrift is a Blessing'
If everyone had a bit more of that, the world would be a better place.
