Grandchildren in the frame

This was taken yesterday at Alnwick Garden, but faffed with today. The children are in age order, Ella aged 8 and her cousin Thomas also 8. Nathaniel is Ella’s 6 year old brother and then James, Thomas’s brother, also 6. James insists he is older than Nathaniel but he’s just taller. Strangely Nathaniel’s Mum (#3 daughter) is average
height and his dad is 6ft. Ella is tall but Thomas has overtaken her. #2 daughter is 5’2” and her husband 6’7” so obviously both boys take their dad’s height not their mother’s.

I left early for my walk to meet Gill but was 10 minutes late as the road was lethal. It had rained then frozen so it was 2 steps forward and 1 back. Luckily Gill had had the same problem coming from her direction. We only did 4.5 miles as it was so unpleasant, just finding a place not slippy and not ankle deep in water or bog. Typically the mizzle and rain came on as we walked and by the time we got through the woods the sun came out.

None of the roads had been gritted and we had no post despite a lot of stuff being still missing. The country is on its knees what with Covid figures reaching a record high of over 40,000 yesterday and the government insisting that schools will go back next week as the schools will test pupils for Covid. It’ll be yet another U turn. And despite the “wonderful “ Brexit deal there’s no mention of our biggest export, financial services, in the document. Oh and NZ goods will be cheaper in the EU than here. But we got our country back. Poor Little Britain.
