Loulou in Repose
My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,
This morning we popped over to see Loulou and Tiger for an early coffee. Loulou was just emerging from the shower in a dressing gown with a towel around her head.
"Oh I'm sorry about..." she began. Then caught herself. "Oh you two don't care at all do you? That's why we love you."
We spent a happy couple of hours talking complete bollocks, which is what the four of us do best. But I discovered something new about Caro!
AFTER TWENTY YEARS.
Loulou had just finished doing a jigsaw puzzle and offered it to Caro who said, "Oooh yes, I love jigsaws."
REALLY??
SINCE WHEN???
So now we have a little project to do together. Our only problem is where it will go. I'm not sure we have a table big enough.
WAIT.
Caro has literally JUST ENTERED THE ROOM with a big piece of cardboard.
That was a bit spooky.
Loulou said she's feeling a bit guilty about being useless around the house after her op. "It triggers my feelings of worthlessness, which I know are wrong, but I'm triggered but I know I'm wrong which makes me feel worse."
However, this did not stop her from asking Tiger to do things while we were there. He was very good about it apart from when she asked him to switch on the living room light.
The problem is that their wiring in their cottage is complicated. He had to go to the bedroom and we could hear light switches flicking. The light above the stairs went on.
"No," said Loulou, it's not the middle one, it's the one labelled 'middle'."
The light in the kitchen went on.
"No, you can't turn that one on at the same time as the middle light," said Loulou.
The kitchen light went off. The light above the stairs went on again.
"No, not that middle one, the OTHER middle one!" said Loulou.
The light in the living room came on.
"It's very confusing," said Tiger. "The top light is labelled middle. But the middle light isn't labelled at all."
"They used to be labelled, 'near' and 'far'," explained Loulou. "But I had to rename them because I would find myself humming 'My Heart Will Go On' from 'Titanic' without knowing why. It took me ages to figure it out."
Talk then turned to bras. Loulou has set herself the goal of not buying any clothes in 2021, she'll just make and repair her own. Even knickers. But she draws the line at bras and so needs to buy bras in the next couple of days to accomplish her aim.
This led me to read out The Princess's blip about bras and how they go on. I hate to break this to you Princess, but Loulou is another "supporter" and agreed that you are an old person. I read the text about "influencers" to her.
"Sounds like it was written by a swiveller to me," she snorted.
We then related our last few days to the pair, about taking the kids to the movies and buying them burgers.
"Ooooooh!" said Loulou. She turned to Tiger.
"When you take these guys home you could go to the burger place and pick up burgers and that would be WONDERFUL and AMAZING," she said. "Or not if it's too much effort, I don't want to put you to any trouble and I'll just eat toast."
That was subtle.
"What about pizza?" said Tiger. Clearly, they'd been thinking about this prior to our arrival.
"Ooooooh! We could have that for DINNER," replied Loulou. "That would be AMAZING." She looked very happy.
Needless to say, we got in on that burger action and sat around in the afternoon to watch "The Godfather Coda", the new edit of Godfather 3. I have to say, neither of us could tell the difference and Sofia Coppola was still horrible in it.
But we had burgers. And they were wonderful and amazing.
