Big Stones

The old wall (read pile of stones) previously hidden by pine trees and weeds was taken down and tidied last year. My knee op slowed the rebuild, but I have now started it. It doesn’t look much, but these are the huge stones that were originally the base of the old wall. Once the base is solid enough (sand & cement mix to be added into the gaps to stabilise it), I will start to build up the wall using smaller stones. It will never look perfect, but then again nothing does (see wall of neighbour’s barn opposite). We have a week of slightly better weather. Mrs SoL is suggesting ‘slow & steady’. My aching body at the end of the day might well agree.
