Locked Down
This lockdown feels different to the one ten months ago. We're inured now to this strange state of existence while also being better informed about what's at stake. It's worse for being in winter while being better for the hope that mass vaccination will ease the situation before spring.
Perhaps the weirdest thing is that while we now have so much more understanding of this virus, it doesn't feel like we have. After all this time we still don't seem to have the information necessary to make good, clear decisions. Mind you, even if we had, it would seem unlikely this government would act on that information in a timely way. No action is ever taken until wider opinion dictates that it must be taken, which is invariably too late. That's not leadership.
Perhaps it wasn't surprising that there were very few people about on the moor on this beautiful winter's day. Once up high, the snow was crisp and grippy and easy to walk over. Getting up there and down again was a different matter altogether. The handful of people I did meet were all lovely and open for conversation. There is a wonderful camaraderie of spirit about at the moment. Long may that continue. We're going to need it.
This poor soul stood locked down admiring the view for a little too long!
