Highly Unsprung

Meet your local NESBReC Recorder!

Elaine has lived in the Kingseat area for over 18 years and has a lifelong interest in wildlife and the countryside which she shares with her family. It's only in the last few years she has started to regularly record her sightings of wildlife and plants in the local area, after stumbling across records online via NESBReC and Scotland's national database submitted by local enthusiastic volunteers over many decades.  "I couldn't believe the amount of records that had been submitted to help build such a valuable resource.  It is so important to record local sightings to help us all understand what is thriving, what might be at risk and what we can do to help.  I am really pleased to be part of building such an important repository of information that will help conserve and protect wildlife and habitats."

"I attended an online NESBReC during lockdown to brush up on my recording skills but it's really easy to do - either online or by hard copy, there are different ways to submit your sightings.  I'd encourage young and old to get involved, to get out into the local environment and get to know and care for the countryside on your doorstep".
