Bullocky’s Rest

We’re in Crows Nest. No prizes for guessing how this town got its name. (Hint: it has nothing to do with sailing ships).

The park on the edge of town is called ‘Bullocky’s Rest’. It’s where the bullock teams used to get penned overnight after hauling logs back in the timber cutting days.

After a beautiful sunny morning it rained, Queensland style, late afternoon. At the time we were camped next to a cute little duck pond which became a lake over about 30 minutes. (See extra).

When the deluge stopped, the folks decided to move the van to higher ground. By next morning the water had drained away and after a bit of cleaning up it looked like nothing had happened.
