There's a hole in your thicket
I was puzzled by the appearance of holes in the centre of the stems of the Mock Orange each time it was cut back. Annual puzzlement turned to comprehension when it was explained to me that a burrowing type bug had laid a bug baby that was eating it's way out. Some of the stems have simply hardened in the centre, the one's carrying the babies are hollow.
Never too old to learn.
