It's coming together

I've just finished glueing the material onto the outside of the lid.  There's a strip to go round the outside of the sides of the lid to finish it off, but first the glue needs to dry.

I've also sewn the outside sides onto the base.  The inside sides are awaiting some ribbon (on order from an online supplier) and then the sides can be constructed, with the gussets between each oblong.

It's a lot of work, though it's been quite fun.  I've the cardboard to make another.  You can buy similar online for about £40.  Even on minimum hourly rate, I've put in more hours than this already, and it's not finished yet!  And I know I would get faster and slicker with practice, but there's a lot of hand stitching and glueing, which cannot be rushed.  I think £40 is ridiculously cheap.
