Sunrise over the Linville Hotel

We’ve been riding the rail trail around Linville.

The area is hilly, the trail is windy with many cuttings. It was mostly created by men with picks and shovels, and the odd stick of dynamite. The first steam train went through in 1910.

The cycle trail has many ‘free camping’ spots, usually on the site of an old railway station, which more often than not means there’s a pub across the road.

Extra: Linville Hotel at sunset.
Note: In Australia, ‘Hotel’ is the standard name for what the Brits call a ‘pub’.
