Do the posh folk really prefer Waitrose ?

I'm a Tesco man myself but according to the New Town Flâneur those in the New Town prefer Waitrose. 

The New Town Flâneur was a commentator on Twitter who provided witty musings on the life in Edinburgh's New Town.  He (or she) had a following of about 20K but sadly disappeared about a year or so ago much to people's disappointment. Did the establishment hound him/her out of social media, did he/she fall victim to the 29 Bus from Stockbridge or was the standard set by his/her commentaries too high and retiral was inevitable ? No one seems to know.
