The statue of the local businessman who was a professional footballer, that made his fortune after injury forced his retirement, stands proudly outside the stadium which bears the name of his sportswear company.
His ambition to see Wigan Athletic play in the Premier League was realised for 8 years between 2005-2013, and his crowning glory was seeing them win the FA Cup in 2013, which he is seen holding!
