Sheep!

I found myself wondering why so many of my Blips of late come from when I'm out driving with Dan, but, of course, apart from running and shopping, that's the only time I really go out.

Today we combined the driving practice with the shopping, taking a trip out to Booths at Settle via Horton in Ribblesdale and coming back via Eldroth (which sounds like somewhere out of 'Lord Of The RIngs').

On the way back we encountered a herd of sheep that had escaped their field and were milling around by the road. They were spread over quite a distance so I reckon they'd been free for a while.

For those of you who don't live in the country, the paint on the ewes' backs indicates when they were 'tupped'. I remember when I first moved up here and was still looking for a job, I went out for a walk while my girlfriend was at work and encountered a ram with a paint box strapped to its chest. I had an irrational fear that it was a cyborg sheep.

Often there is a mix of paints on a ewe's back, giving a clash of colours but these colours, the light blue and the amber, make for a rather nice combination, I think.
