Out on the Sea-ice

This  was a long day, as indicated by the fact I am writing it up the day after!
It involved a fairly long walk up the Älandsbro inlet on the sea ice, and a mammoth evening session of baking that wasn’t finally finished and put away until 1:30 in the morning!
First the image…
This is one of the ice floes that must have formed a few weeks ago, sometime around Christmas or New Year. Probably on the 21 January, when we had our last big windy snow storm the ice broke up in the wind and all the floes jostled back and forth against each other. Water and small icy lumps splashed up onto the edges of the floes and quickly froze there. Then the wind died down and the sea refroze around the floes, and probably by the 23 January all was fast frozen in place.  Since then there has been just a light dusting of snow and the areas between the floes have only the slightest snow cover.  A fox has walked past.
By the time I took this picture the sun had set and I set off for home, walking quickly enough to get warm, though my ears stung a little in the -10C temperatures.
It was a delightful walk and I took a lot of pictures, and then had problems choosing one for my Blip.  In the end this was my choice, plus one extra - natural ice art!
The others can be seen in a flickr group, which has grown to include pictures from the 9th too, the next day, when we returned to the same place on skis.
