Here we go again – Day 45

I've had to have a hair cut today.

For weeks, (in fact months) I've had a massive lump of matted fur at the top of my back leg beside by tail. Every now and again Ann tries to approach me to cut it out but I never let her near it. Today we went for a walk through the Hermitage with Ann's friend Kay, and I went running off into the undergrowth and came back covered in lots of little prickly things. Unfortunately some of them became embedded in my matted fur and so when we got home I lay in my bed trying to bite them out. They were well and truly stuck and wouldn't budge. Ann thinks they must have been hurting me because when she produced the scissors I didn't run away. I sat ever so nicely and let her cut out loads of my matted fur. It was really hard for Ann to do and she's cut out as much as she dared. She says the rest of it probably needs to be shaved because she's scared that she's going to cut my skin if she snips away at any more. But at least she's cut out all the prickly bits and I'm feeling a lot more comfortable. …..........And I got treats when she'd finished 'cos I was such a good girl. Yay!

Actually it was one of the things that Ann was going to ask the vet about at my annual check up. Collie's don't normally have hair cuts but I've got such long hair on my tail and at the top of my back legs that she thinks I would benefit from it being cut.

However, my vet isn't doing annual check ups at the moment. I didn't get my half yearly checkup either. I've got an appointment for 3 months time. I suppose that's OK because as far as Ann can tell; I'm very fit and healthy so a check-up isn't really 'essential', but a few months ago when they were doing check-ups our owners just had to hand us in and then wait outside, so I don't really understand why they can't do that now? During 'proper lock-down' our branch was closed and we had to go to the main branch to pick up my flea/worming treatment so not really quite sure why they're open this time? Every time we walk past, the new young receptionist seems to be constantly playing on her phone??!! We know that some vets are operating normally (or as normally as they can) but to be honest both the vets at the practice are lovely so we don't really want to change.

And here we are, another Thursday evening in lock down. That means it's almost time for 'Songs & Sundowners'. Yay!
