Super Bass

Regular readers might remember I bought a cheap bass guitar last July (see Blip of 17th July) with a view to upgrading / modifying it. But then the gyms reopened and it got put on back burner for a bit. My blip of 6th September showed it ready to go to the guitar shop for final fettling, and I think I hope to have it back for Christmas at the latest.
Unfortunately, incorrect parts being supplied (my fault) led to delays which were compounded by the chap who was doing it firstly having to isolate due to a covid contact and then go on furlough as subsequent Tier restrictions and lockdowns meant the shop was pretty much closed and running on a skeleton staff.
However, it’s back now and I completed the last little cosmetic touches today, before plugging in and seeing how it played. As previously blipped, my amp has had to go off for repair, but the beauty of this particular bass is that it plays quite well through a “normal” guitar amp. Given that caveat, it actually sounded pretty good!
Cost wise, it’s ended up at double the original purchase price, but I reckon it’s worth it. The guitar shop modded a couple themselves last year and sold them for roughly what I’ve spent, so I’m there or thereabouts.
Anyway, it’s nice to have it finally finished and in use. I wonder what this year’s project should be.....
