Contrails

We walked the length of Portobello beach this morning. It was busy, as we expected, on a Sunday. We chose the High Street on the outward route as a less peopled route. We had forgotten how popular the cafes are just now. None is open but many are offering a street door take away service. The queues blocked the pavements!

Planes are a rare sight these days. On our way home along the beach we saw three. The first was an EasyJet from Luton, the second the Dreamliner from Qatar and the third was a BA flight from Aberdeen to Heathrow. The latter was high above Portobello but the shadow from its contrail seared the sky above the heads of these intrepid mermen!

We watched the BBC’s eve of Commonwealth Day presentation from Westminster Abbey this evening. I suspect a much bigger audience will be tuned into Oprah’s interview tonight/tomorrow.
