Civic Duty
The photo doesn’t inspire me in anyway although I managed to get a bit of green space in on the far right of the shot .
The road running off to my left marks the northern boundary of the ward my husband represents on the local council . The road running away downhill marks the western boundary. He stood 35 years ago and has been in place ever since . I stood once , a long time ago as the party felt it would be good to have a husband and wife team . Not , you understand because I had anything to offer in my own right , I was merely a handy wife . In those days I was also a party member so was eligible to stand. I could have stood again but decided it would put to much pressure on our young family to have both parents as local councillors , but that’s a whole other story .
Anyway I have delivered leaflets to the houses along these boundary markers as I strongly believe that ,in order to have a democracy people need to vote and that sometimes means enabling them to vote. I also believe that that it’s both our civic and moral duty to make an informed vote . So I will deliver leaflets and do my bit .
I’ve also spent time looking for companies that provide health care workers who will come to your home and look after a family member through the night . One of my daughters friends works for such a company and I was close to tears when I spoke to her as it makes it more possible that we could have my dad to stay .
Jobs for the rest of the day to be ticked off are , posting off some parcels , planting some summer bulbs ,walking Miss B and then a lengthy call linked to a national statistics survey .
So far I have walked 8741 steps (5.1km ) an improvement on yesterday .
