Spring Will be a Little Late This Year
Despite the date on the calendar, forecasts for snow and ice on high ground last night and a bitingly cold wind today, could easily fool you into thinking winter had returned.
But in parts of the garden at least, nature has definitely decided that spring is here. Mrs C planted scores of bulbs last September/October but did not keep a record of what went in where, so it would be a nice surprise when they all came through.
And the clumps of colour really do brighten up the view from the lounge window, on an otherwise dull day.
Elsewhere in our extensive(!) grounds, nature is not quite as advanced. None of the trees or hedges are showing any signs of bursting into life any time soon. Some of the shrubs have green shoots appearing but that’s about it. Best news as far as I’m concerned is that the grass has not yet started to grow. Looks like that first cut of the lawn can wait until April. Though I am in no doubt that a couple of days of warm, sunny weather next week will quickly transform the garden into a close facsimile of the Amazonian rain forest!
Apart from popping outside to take the photo (suddenly realised I needed a blip and that the light was fading!) we’ve not left the house today. I did a workout with the weights mid morning, but have basically slobbed out for the rest of the day. Given that more cold and wet weather is forecast for next week as well, I don’t see myself doing much different over the next few days...
