Fresh water fish...

Big Sis and I visited Ruxley Garden Centre over lunchtime today, just to browse and to take advantage of a potting compost offer. To miss some heavy rain showers we looked in at the fresh water fish in the aquariums. They looked totally oblivious to the outside world!

Home briefly before my walk with Little Legs (who sent me beautiful flowers yesterday) Debbie returned to work on Tuesday to news of the closure of many branches of Santander and therefore to the threat of redundancy. She is fairly senior in her post and so has been very busy since the news dealing with calls from her team plus having to prepare for redundancy herself.

Then we’ve watched the online thanksgiving service for the mother of friends from our church that We4 grew up with. Polly died at the age of 101. Her husband died just thirteen months ago aged 100. Polly and Jim and our parents were close friends. In their late sixties they left to live in Cyprus to run a Christian bookshop and stayed for thirty years. Our parents took the only plane journey of their lives to spend four weeks with them one summer many years ago now. Photographs show what a happy time they shared together.

So sadly, our friends have been unable to visit their mother in her nursing home during this last year but were so grateful to be allowed to do so for the two days which turned out to be her last. Now Polly and Jim are together again.
