A time for everything

Easter Sunday

“God sent His son, they called Him Jesus
He came to love, heal and forgive
He lived and died to buy my pardon
An empty grave is there to prove my savior lives
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living, just because He lives”
Gloria and Bill Gaither

We had to be up early this morning, to be at church for 8am for the handbells to practice once again with the organ and scholarship singers. We were playing the introit, and then accompanying two hymns. We were having two services at 9 and 11, in order to be sure to accommodate people safely. Although 60+ people had signed up for both services, there were no more than about 30 at the first and maybe 40 or so at the second. I don’t know what happened to the others! It was so wonderful to be in church again for Easter Sunday - it just didn’t seem like Easter last year, not being able to worship in church. The choir anthem and the praise band song was pre-recorded individually, and put together on computer. The services were also live streamed for those still not comfortable coming to church. We are blessed with some wonderful musicians. Dan is our music director and is also a skilled percussionist - he used to be one of the band directors at our children’s high school. His wife Debbie is an excellent pianist, used to be a teacher, plays keyboard with the praise band and directs the handbell choir. Tom, our organist and pianist, is also a cellist - in fact that is his main instrument - he teaches and plays in several orchestras. It was a beautiful day, and the sun was streaming through the striking stained glass windows.so all in all a really uplifting morning. When we got home, we had phone calls with my brother and sister-in-law and my sister. We tried calling Roger’s sister Janet, assuming that his Dad would also be there, but unfortunately they were just about to eat. Then we went out to enjoy the glorious sunshine and to continue to worship God in his creation. While we were driving to Long Branch Farm and trails, Laura called us from Kuwait, so we touched base with several of the family today!
We didn’t walk far this afternoon, neither of us slept well last night, and as I said we were up early this morning, so we weren’t feeling very energetic. This evening I fixed us a roast lamb dinner, with pâté for a starter and raspberry trifle for dessert. We’re now feeling well stuffed, and I don’t think it will be long before we go to bed! Hope you had a great Easter Sunday as well!
