Life's Little Moments

Eastern Screech Owl

It has been an excellent day in so many respects...

The culmination of the day was when my friend G brought this little gray phase Screech Owl to be released on our property.   He/she has been in rehab since last fall after a car strike.  He was anxious to go and a few moments after I snapped this she released him and he jetted into the woods at an amazing speed.  We probably won't know for a while if he decides to stay, but we are hopeful.  Our habitat is ideal for little owls and we have loads of mice and insects, water, and two deluxe nest boxes.  So, we'll see.  One more shot of him, just before he took off in Extra.  You can really see in this shot how tiny he is.

Earlier in the day, Hubs got a job offer for a terrific position with a great company.  He's been unemployed since a bit before Covid struck so it's been a long haul.  We're both really thrilled.

I received a box of dark chocolates from a fellow blipper - they are possibly the most beautiful works of art I've ever seen.  Almost, but not quite, too beautiful to eat. And a gift that has touched my heart.

And I have all arrangements settled for Monday.  I check in to the hospital at 8 am.  First procedure is from 9 to about 10:30 and the surgery will be from 11 to about 12:30.  I was told to expect to be released probably around 3:30.  Step one in banishing cancer.  I'm ready.

And now, I am going to have a piece of chocolate and snuggle up with my hubs.

As always, take care of yourselves, stay safe, be kind.  And dark chocolate...
