Najivunia kua [kama] mkenya

We are now waiting to hear the final announcement from the IEBC (the official election guys) that Uhuru Kenyatta is the new President of Kenya. The waiting is over...and there appears to be peace! Woohoo!!

It was close, however. The winner had to garner 50%+1 and in this election, it appears as if he got 50.03% ...this translates to a mere 4,100 votes above the required amount! And this is out of about the 12m votes cast.

We celebrate the independent electoral commission for their leadership and impartiality, for having a plan 'b' after the electronic voting system let them down, for announcing results periodically and for being true to their positions.

We thank the media for being responsible and not sensationalising silly politicians who made silly statements about the the voting process.

We thank the Kenyan people for maintaining peace and having faith in the system. We thank the politicians for not insighting their supporters.

It is now noon...the day is young so anything can happen but I am optimistic that we have had a peaceful election. "najifunie kua kama mkenya" which is a take on the national campaign which says that "I am proud to be [like a] Kenyan"

Njambi celebrates in the tent which was set up outside the house on the veranda...it is a good way to celebrate!

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers...we can now see light at the end of the tunnel!
