Double Barrel
That’s it, all done. Second jab today so nothing more to be done than wait a few weeks for full protection, which will hopefully coincide with more easing of restrictions and another step towards the return to normality - though I did hear some cautionary warnings on the news today that some measures (masks?) might have to be in force for quite a while longer.
Whatever your thoughts on the overall handling of the pandemic in this country, I do think praise has to be given for the efficiency and speed of the vaccine rollout. Testimony to what can be achieved when everyone is working towards the same goal.
I am especially pleased with how quickly I received my second jab - only 8 weeks after the first. I’m sure this is because I went with the programme run by our local Primary Care Network, rather than the main NHS one. Rather than booking both doses together, twelve weeks apart, we were only allocated our first date and told we would be contacted “8-12 weeks later” to book the second dose. As it happened, nearly everyone I know (of around my age) who went down the PCN route has had - or is due to have - their second jab. I’ve always held my surgery in high regard, and even more so now.
The process itself was as efficient as the first dose, but a lot more relaxed. Didn’t have to watch the “safety” video if I didn’t want to, and the Doctors and Nurses were quite happy to chat whilst administering the vaccine. I even got a “brave boy” badge!
No reaction yet, not even a sore arm. Spent the afternoon building a step for the new deck and then moving all the stone troughs and heavy pots/ornaments on to the deck. Not a hint of pain, headache or fatigue. I have heard though that reaction to the second jab sometime doesn’t show up for a couple of days, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
