Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 193

Mothers' Day 2013. Contrary to what the supermarkets try to tell us Mothering Sunday - the mid point in Lent-, was the day when those working in service (Downton Abbey style) returned to their mother church and de facto many also met their mothers on this day. This church is a familiar landmark on the Porty shore - so familiar that it even appears on nautical charts to enable mariners find safe haven.

Such was the force of wind off the sea this morning it was not a place to linger long. Snow showers blowing in from Norway. Snow settling on Arthur's Seat and the low hills across the Forth. The sea on the right of this blip sometimes encroaches on the street too.
