Duck Egg - Blue :(
When I opened the back door this morning the heat hit me. Such a surprise after all the cold weather we've had. Wildlife was loving it. The birds were singing and butterflies were flitting. I saw St Mark's flies hanging in the air with their legs dangling. I captured a male after lunch. (Extras) These insects usually emerge on St Mark's Day, the 25th April. That's how late the bug season is his year.
I found the mallard's egg this morning by the Nissen hut. It looks as though something has been trying to gnaw it. I'm tempted to incubate it, particularly as no ducklings have survived on the lake. However it's a big commitment to be a parent to a duckling and I fear it might end in tears.
