Apple Blossom and Autumn promise
There is plenty of blossom on our apple trees now. I hope this means we will have a good harvest later this year, especially as the crop was light last year.
Met two friends for an outdoor pub lunch, by the river Test near Stockbridge. Fortunately, we were in a marquee as there was a torrential rain shower while we ate. We had hoped to go for a good country walk afterwards, but ended up doing a short walk along lanes ,much later, from one friend's house in Chilbolton. At least we got a view of the Chilbolton Observatory (see extra). For over fifty years it has been a UK hub of meteorological measurements , radio astronomy and satellite tracking. There are occasional open days there, which I should think would be most interesting.
