Florence Nightingale/International Nurses’ Day

(If you are a Scottish Nationalist you may not support this date but prefer to mark Louisa Jordan’s birthday on 24th July instead?)

Whatever your view, there is no denying that the U.K. Covid vaccination programme has been remarkable. We both had our second jags at Ingliston today despite being invited to attend on separate days. Thanks to Blippers Marchmont and ArcLight for your helpful advice. We had a critical time frame and clearly did not wish to miss our second jags! On our southern expedition next month we’ll be good to hug our children and grandchildren again for the first time in a year and a half!

On yesterday’s long car journey home I noticed two things that would have been unimaginable pre-pandemic. First at the two service stations we stopped at, everyone was dutifully putting on their masks before entering. We really have become conditioned to that response now I think?

The second thing was the sight of three brand new titanic warehouses just off the motorway. These leviathans to the online shopping craze are the live link between supplier and consumer and the defunct bit is now, sadly, the high street department store. We are all witnessing a revolution in super fast time.

Blink and it will be over!
