Skytower

I came across this sculpture online when looking for a different one!
Realising it was just a few miles away, a visit was called for. So an evening drive over to Airdrie and a wander through Rawyards Forestry Commission woodland. It is, one might say, an immature woodland on a fairly barren hill so this six metre high sculpture by Rob Mulholland isn't easy to miss..

An information board at the site states, "Skytower depicts the struggle between man-made structures and the elemental forces of nature; as if in a moment a sudden gust of wind, an unseen and unstoppable force of nature has ripped through the fragile structure scattering the branches and reshaping the tower."

An impressive piece of art, which I surprised not to have visited before.
