Tradition done!
I was really sad that her going to school meant for the first time since she was a year old we couldn't take her photo in the bluebells. Only, she asked to go for a walk in the woods this morning (at 7am...) and there were still some bluebells! Happy mama.
We had a gorgeous walk then came home for a bit of practice. Mid morning we were joined by her first friend to come and see the new house, her first inside visitor since before March 2020 and it was her Bobbins! They had the biggest hug at the door and Bobbins said "I have missed you SO much" before giving her another hug. They are delightful and wonderful and bonkers together. They played in Katie's room before they went to the park for a little bit, just the tiny one that noone else goes to. They came home and had pizza lunch in the garden, during which time it dawned on them that a water fight might be fun. I drenched them both then left them to it! They dried off and changed out of swimmers, leaving time for a game of hide and seek round the house. A very successful play date.
I dropped Katie at home and for the first time, I left her and she came to join me somewhere later, locking up and making her own way to join me. She had an nco rehearsal and I had to be at work. I think she ran the whole way to find me but she did it and it was fine! Work was good, but the kids were really hot and exhausted. Juice part way through revitalised them a little but they were uncharacteristically quiet. They very much enjoyed a butter carving challenge though!
We came home and thankfully I had managed to be organised so tea was ready to reheat. We munched as we watched the Friends Reunion. She did practice but was a tired girl by bedtime. We have a nicely quiet day tomorrow after a morning walk then a bit of morning music with B. I think I'm going to just let her play and watch movies all day long.
