Noodling, fossicking

We went 70km from town on a day trip to three outback pubs and some fossicking sites. I can now tick the box for Opal fossicking. All I could see were 7 billion little white bits of clay. For a change we were hot ( it’s winter but it gets hotter here than home). Each of the pubs tried to out do the other in being eccentric. They succeeded. I did enjoy the experience but it isn’t my thing to be honest.

I did like looking at the unusual plants though and wild emus and goats. They have had a lot of rain but it hasn’t replenished the ground water after years of drought. It looks green but they would like more rain.

The extra shows some of the old cars and housing. The emu is about 30m tall ( apologies Stanley is only 18m tall), the body looks like and old VW and the eyes are two radar dishes. The legs are part of the old police station which burnt down. I did say they are eccentric out here.
