3 Mile Island

What a day! It can only be summarized by a bullet point list, sad as it sounds. Oh, and a song. Featuring the funkiest guitar and piano work, this song will probably catch you by surprise, check it out! Represents how I've felt all day: Timeless.

- Scanning and uploading photos to facebook with Ali in F211 from Thursday's mad pub crawl.
- Getting some project work done.
- Doing some developing and printing of the black and white disposable camera in the darkroom with Allie. Prints are kinda disappointing, dunno if its me or the camera...
- Project meeting with my supervisor. He seems very content with my work, keep on rolling!
- Meeting about the Uganda field course. EVEN MORE PUMPED! See you in September crater lakes, hydro projects, malaria and 75p beers.
- EQHO and bellydancing ball at the glasshouse, which I photographed. Good fun, bunch of people I knew there and great atmosphere!
- Ruth's leaving drinks at Duke's. Countless people there, luckily Ruth is still around for the rest of the week before proper goodbye.
- Hop on the bus for Campus with my man Ali, performing at Unplucked with his sweet rapping skills on guitar!
- Battle of the Bands, the final! Made it for the second half and saw 3 Mile Island, Coast Is Clear and Gunmen of the Apocalypse.

Battle of the Bands
3 Mile Island were awesome! The type of stuff I'd listen to on my iPod. Coast is Clear were great as well, good mix of pop punk with occasional heavier tinges. Could tell they were influenced by the likes of Blink, Sum and Offspring, and they had personality. Gunmen of the Apocalypse were a bit on the heavy side vocals-wise for me, but put on a sick show and had everybody rocking! Overall it was beast and its too bad I missed the first half (including the winning band).
Shooting in Copper Rooms 1 was definitely an improvement from last time, and the photographer's pit is great. When the lights go down though, it gets REALLY dark. I was there to photograph casually but ended up really getting into it. Can't wait to go through the photos, I'm proud of quite a few of them.

This shot stood out to me when I took it, so I chose it as my blip, before going through all the rest.
Composition: I'm very very very happy with the composition, can't think of anything to change. Let me know if you disagree please!
Focus: some people might be annoyed by the focus being on the guitar, but I personally don't mind. Ideally I would have had a smaller aperture, but moments happen too fast when you're shooting manual, so its about tradeoff.
Colors: this is where I'm not sure about my editing. Low-key black and white looks sick on this shot, but I didn't want to give up the impact of the colors.
Overall: I like the photo, constructive criticism welcome.
