All men dream; but not equally
All men dream; but not equally.
Those who dream by night in the dusty
recesses of their minds
Awake to find that it was vanity;
But the dreamers of day are dangerous men.
That they may act their dreams with open
eyes to make it possible.
TE Lawrence
I feel slightly ashamed at being too gutless to catch my blip when I had the chance. I was at Jesus College today and had lunch in the Hall where Augustus John's beautiful portrait of Lawrence of Arabia hangs. It would have made the perfect blip, and captured a wonderful day of interesting discussions and challenges about the nature of conflict and the challenges the British Armed forces face in the coming years.
However, I only had my iPhone and felt it would somehow be impertinent to try and photograph the painting. So here instead is my biography of Lawrence by Adrian Greaves, alas only partly-read and still in the 'to finish' pile.
