Notre Dame de la Garde

251 steps for the windiest experience of my life! The wind was so strong that it was almost impossible to walk when we got to the top but it was nice to see another statue of the Virgin Mary, it's not like I don't see enough of her in my town already! After the morning of climbing it was definitely lunch time so we went in search of a cafe, and we found an amazing one. Price, try hard (it calls itself a concept store!) but also amazing. We had soup and cakes and sat in arm chairs and it felt like being in England again. Oh and the bread, the bread was incredible! Spent the afternoon exploring shops then headed back to ours via the oldest bakery in the town (founded in 1781) and bought some of the local specialites called navettes. They're orange flavoured biscuits but they were a little disappointing, and quite dry.

Late afternoon was spent visiting the nearby coast and walking along La Corniche which was quite pretty although the weather was no longer great with a little bit of rain. We were both quite tired from lots of walking so the walk home involved lots of singing to spur us on!

In the evening we found a cute little restaurant and cafe for dinner. I had duck, which is, of course, my favourite so I was content and we shared a chocolat mi-cuit for dessert. Oh melty chocolately goodness. Home for yet more chatting and packing before tomorrow. Time passes fast when you're having fun.
