2021 Tuesday — Cortisone: It’s Magic
We are at the junction of another 3-month cancer check-up for Mr. Fun. We are in SoCal for numerous Kaiser medical appointments. He has had blood work completed and the next injection of the Lupron hormone, and he’s had a bone density scan (because the hormone can cause osteoporosis because it is a female hormone; that hormone is used to kill testosterone. Prostate cancer feeds on testosterone). Sorry if that is all too technical.
So Thursday Mr. Fun has an appointment with his cancer doctor to learn the prognosis on the prostate cancer. We think the report will be good.
Another issue He is having is with his right knee. The knee started having pain occasionally several months ago. Two weeks ago the pain became severe and walking was difficult. Last Thursday the knee basically quit functioning.
Thankfully we got in this morning to see the orthopedic doctor who did surgery on that knee 8 years ago. He ordered an X-ray and told Mr. Fun the knee has bone spurs. The doctor gave him an injection of cortisone and told him it would take 24 hours to begin to feel the magic result of the cortisone and to stay off the knee for several days.
