a rain free day.... so far!!

shock weather report! Grey skies, but no rain! But the damage had already been done over the past couple of days, so today has been spent clearing up all the soggy peony and rose flowers that are beyond saving :( such a depressing task! I had saved some before the rain fell for vases indoors, just wish I'd picked them all now!

And as normally happens in the garden, a bit of pottering leads to more jobs so I found myself pruning back the grapevine which has gone nuts as well as some other bushes and trees that seem to have doubled in size in a very short space of time!

We normally get a lot of orange poppies in the garden growing naturally and they're still about, but there's a rogue red poppy plant now growing which is rather lovely!
