Kent Estuary
We decided to go south to Beetham to walk a route from the Arnside area of outstanding natural beauty on a website suggested by Knottman2. (https://www.arnsidesilverdaleaonb.org.uk/discover/things-to-see-do/walks/beetham-heritage-walk/)
An excellent choice. We commenced the walk with a short stroll to the Old Beetham Post Office where we sat outside opposite the church and had a cheese scone with cheese and chutney and a coffee.
Well sustained we walked back to the Old Heron Mill which was unfortunately closed then out on the circular walk from there. Great views as we climbed up from Beetham was followed by the most spectacular of limestone pavements full of clints and grykes and specialised plants.
Quite a lot of woodland walking and a slight detour eventually brought us out overlooking the Kent Estuary which is the subject for today’s blip. On the way we safely negotiated the Fairy Steps (a spectacularly deep narrow gryke)although touching the sides stopped our chances of seeing the fairies.
The last section took us through Dallem Park back to the Mill with herds of roe fallow deer in amongst the sheep. We detoured to Sandside on the way back to the cottage to get a closer look at the Kent Estuary.
All very quiet with few people about.
Thank you for your comments and stars for yesterday’s blip. Our cottage is on the left of the shot. There are a couple of other holiday places to the right.
