Now and Then

The veg patch has taken off. The home produced compost is proving very good for the plants. Our asparagus is in its first year, we are harvesting the early potatoes, the courgettes are already being cut every day.  There are embryonic fruits on the aubergines, the beans are due to be cut in a week or so, our pumpkins have already got a few gourds, finally, the tomato plants are full of green fruit, just waiting for the sun to come back.  The lower pic was taken in March, as I finished building the beds.  The upper is how they look today.  Oh, and when I cut the weeds in a patch I had not been able to get to, there was a wild courgette, with 5 fruit.
The Little Owl was in the garden tonight when I put the chickens to bed.  We had not seen it for a while, so pleased it is still around.
Sadly, La Rochelle lost the rugby final.  Toulouse played very well.  Congrats to them for the title.
Extra pic is of the egg I collected from the coop tonight. One of the hens must have watery eyes!  The smaller egg would be considered XL in the shops!
