Obelisk View
This afternoon I went to Haldon Forest. I'd intended to walk to an interesting little church. I thought I'd find a path through but I must have been mistaken, I hadn't noticed the altitude difference. Anyway I visited the obelisk, I hadn't been there for many years and looked out at this amazing view (it's not an aerial shot, my camera's with me on solid ground. There's Exmouth, Orcombe Point, Sandy Bay and Straight Point in the distance. I can see the tall poplar tree by Cockwood harbour. Amazing!
I've added an extra of the obelisk. it was built as a landmark for shipping in 1742 by Thomas Balle, who owned the Mamhead estate.
