Silly Saturday: ET Phone Home!

The extended toe pads of this tree frog reminded me of E.T. in the 1982 Stephen Spielberg movie, E.T. the Extra-Terrestial.

This is the time of year we see more of these tiny frogs. I discovered this one when I separated two lawn chairs. 

The weather has cooled considerably from its high of 116 f/ 46.6 c, and most of the garden survived the extreme heat.

Tomorrow is America's Independence Day, and fireworks are a traditional part of the celebration. Due to the drought, fireworks have been banned in the greater Portland-Vancouver area. Such a ban will be difficult to enforce, and we hope no large fires start tomorrow as a result of people carelessly setting off fireworks.
