Elderflower

We had a busy day, looking at the beehives. They have made us some honey! The tiny swarm we collected is doing okay, with some new brood ready to hatch. We saw the queen and I am really puzzled, as she is one of my marked queens. They should only swarm with a large number of bees, ready to make a whole new colony somewhere. What was she doing out with only a tiny handful of bees? Anyway I am pleased we saved her and hope she will repay our efforts by building a new big colony.
Also, baked a nice fruit cake for sharing with our visitors this week, and hopefully some to take to Gilly too!
I saw some good fresh elderflower on my walk with Pepper and wondering if I have time to make some cordial?
