Doddington Place Gardens

Doddington Place is a private estate on the North Downs in Kent near Faversham. The gardens are extensive and beautiful and opened to the public on Wednesdays and Sundays, and on Bank Holidays. It was a gorgeous summer's day to visit today and so much to enjoy including these magnificent yew hedges. They are clipped once a year in late summer resulting in two tons of yew clippings which used to be sold to a pharmaceutical firm for processing in a drug used for the treatment of cancer. That is fitting as the Gardens have been open as part of the National Gardens Scheme in support of Macmillan cancer nurses and other charities for over 60 years. The other photos are of the Rock Garden and Pond Walk.
