As One Door Closes, Another Opens
I offered to 'man the fort' for a wee while this afternoon at The Loft Arts Gallery, the last day of Paul Larson's exhibition 'Another View'. It's been a memorable five weeks: filming a painter from the first score of charcoal, to the last brush stroke; becoming a real aficionado for the Beatles, Yardbirds, Rolling Stones, Neil Young and ELO, to name but a few; seeing Markus Innocenti work his magic behind the camera and hear an amazing Sean Connery impression. Yes, laughter, great moments of camaraderie and artistry; then a sadness when Markus left.
Brightness came again this weekend. Despite the exhibition coming to an end, Paul unveiled his painting and I the song.
So, today would be a quiet day manning the Gallery's reception area. I decided to take some last photographs of Paul's paintings and, whilst walking around the Gallery, George Harrison's 'Whilst My Guitar Gently Weeps' started to play. I'd heard this song so often over the last few weeks - it becoming synonymous with spending time in Paul's studio - that I felt compelled to take one last look at this beautiful painting and film it. Click here for a 54 second video of the painting..
5pm arrived, the exhibition came to an end and we closed the doors for the last time. However, you know what they say, 'As one door closes, another opens'...
