Complementary Backdrop

I almost dismissed this single yellow flower in front of a leaf from a cottonwood tree. I thought it at first uninspiring being on its own and not in a group to which I could relate it. But the more I thought about it, the more it made sense and I returned to photograph this intimate scene.

I'm glad that the leaf was a more muted yellow, allowing the Ox-Eye flower to shine. Dropping the exposure slightly enabled the details in the petals to show. Yellow can be quite difficult. I dropped the saturation of the green leaves rather than trying to boost the yellows. It's all relative.
