Also from Shaftesbury

Another photo from yesterday in Shaftesbury.. ..a rather dated panoramic dial from 1977. It could do with a bit of TLC and also the trees have grown up so much that some of the buildings it points too are no longer visible.

It’s a nice view from a point near the top of Gold Hill and looks towards a village called Compton Abbas where my maternal grandparents lived when first married. My grandmother was the village schoolteacher ( I think she was the first in her farming family to actually go to college..in Bristol) and my grandfather was a farmer in the village.

Such a shame the sign has not been maintained better by the Rotary Club who installed it.
