Gold Hill…remember the Hovis advert?

This is looking down Gold Hill in Shaftesbury, Dorset. It has been used most famously for a Hovis advert and more recently in quite a few other adverts and TV dramas.

We passed through today en route to visiting friends and family. I used to go to the little town when growing up quite a bit for the shops and also the, then vibrant, weekly  cattle market. My father also went to the grammar school in Shaftesbury a long time ago, but left at 14 to go home and work on the farm.
