Waiting and watching

So thrilled to see our women's soccer team beat Sweden for Olympic gold! Even more exciting when we've seen two of the players play with Kalyn!  
Kalyn played with Jordyn Huitema on her club team when they were teenagers, and SiL James coached that team. Jordyn was initially an alternate for the Olympic team, but she replaced another player who got hurt, and she now plays for Paris Saint-Germain. Kalyn also played with Julia Grosso on the Vancouver Whitecaps Prospect Team. Julia now plays at the University of Texas-Austin.  It was so exciting to see her win the gold medal game with her penalty shot!   I'm thrilled for Christine Sinclair, the captain, a professional soccer player who has played as a striker for the Canada women's national soccer team since 2000. As of August 6, 2021, her 187 goals in 304 matches ranks first in most career international goals scored by a female or male soccer player. What a player and what a superb role model, an athlete I really admire.

Too hot for dogs to be in cars at this time of year, so it was good to see someone sitting with these ones with the car door open. We went to drop off the garbage at the transfer station then to recycling. G thought that the recycling centre was still taking used hot water tanks but that's ended, so back to the transfer station to drop it off. The station has a "mall" where people drop off used items for others to pick up. The woman who was driving this car went to have a look around the "mall" and I spotted the dogs and took a photo from our car. We stopped in town for G to pick up something at the hardware store, so I had a quick walkabout to see if there were other blip possibilities. I've added extras:
- a young couple who stopped at the realty office just around the corner after I took this to look at ads places for sale
- a young woman taking a break from her job who was absorbed in her phone
