Tweed Kettle

An EB again. I had a fair bit of work to do in the garden and didn't feel like posting another blip of flowers. I was using a tea towel that my mum brought me back from Scotland when she went home for a visit with family. I remember her going back only once. She brought me a couple of the tea towels and a little vase with a map of Scotland on it. This tea towel has Traditional Scottish Recipes with images of them on it, including the one for Tweed Kettle. "A popular 19th century Edinburgh dish made with Scotch salmon. The fish is simply poached with shallots and white wine. Serve hot with fresh girdle scones."
Other recipes: Cock a Leekie Soup, Cloutie Dumpling, Scotch Pancakes, and Haggis.  None of them have exact measurements for ingredients, but I'm sure I could find them on Google. Or ask my Aunty May for hints.  :-)
Extra:  Breakfast of Champions, fresh figs smooshed on buttered toast, one of my very favourites. I think our daughter and Beaches Doogie will be salivating if they look at this! The birds are enjoying the figs despite G's efforts that I mentioned in a previous blip. He saw a grosbeak pecking at one and feeding the tidbits to a young one yesterday. There have been blue jays, flickers and sapsuckers feasting too. G tries to pick the ripe ones before they're eaten, but we won't get as many as in the past and have to enjoy the ones we have. He took a plate of them up to one of our neighbours yesterday. Fig clafoutis for dessert here tomorrow!
