Cardoon
This marvellous structural plant dominated one of the gardens we walked past on our way to the garden centre to procure some brassicas.
Slugs have decimated the winter cabbages, broccoli and sprouts I planted out last week despite protection and in a brassica cage. Faced with no winter brassicas I was relieved to find plenty to choose from. These plants will be protected by using upturned water bottles pushed into the soil.
We visited another care home this afternoon, this one was the best we’ve seen and it’s a more economic option too. Unfortunately, there are no rooms available at the moment.
I spent over two hours this evening meeting with the leading people objecting to Project A. It’s far more than saving a few allotments. We’ve decided to scale back campaigning over the remainder of the month, gearing up again in September for when the results of the consultation are published. Having said that I’m doing an interview for Meridian TV tomorrow!
