Surprise date night

Was whisked off on a special date night tonight to Simon Rogan's new restaurant The French in Manchester. It only opened last week and my husband surprised me which was wonderful!

We are great fans of Simon Rogan's cooking having watched him on the Great British Menu. And he didn't disappoint. Everything was homegrown from his restaurant farm at L'Enclume in Cumbria - I have never tasted such incredible flavours in my life!

We got on really well with the front of house staff and we were invited 'backstage' to the kitchen to meet Simon which was amazing. He was a lovely guy and seemed very passionate - working 16 hour days and sleeping in a room in the Midland hotel where the restaurant is based.

What a special evening!
